Early Summer - "Back" to Basics

05/11/2022

This week, we begin our Summer Training protocol in the Body & Breath Membership group.  The season is Early Summer and we are gearing up for an amazing 10 week cycle.

Today, in the membership our video was about getting Back to Basics.  When I say Back, I literally mean the BACK.

So many people in the world are suffering from all kinds of back problems.  Without getting into the Why's of Back problems getting back to our foundation can be a great starting point towards minimizing pain and discomfort and with dedicated practice possibly even healing.

Standing the the Boat is a gentle rocking motion on the bottom of the boot that shifts the body and the spine forward and back.  Articulating the spine in this way creates movement, moves lymph, moves cerebral spinal fluid and also creates space between the vertebrae.

The diagram shows the bottom of the foot highlighting the Small Triangle and the Large Triangle.  In the middle sits The Bubbling Well which is connected to Kidney 1, a foundational meridian point in our Qigong practice.

Kidney 1 is part of the Water Element, and Water is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to cool the element of Fire.  Fire can be related to inflammation.  Excess Fire in the form of inflammation can be a contributing factor in back issues.  So one of our goals is to sedate the fire, while bringing up the water.

The small toe circle is connected to the Bladder Meridian, also part of the Water Element.  The Bladder meridian runs from the foot, up the back, directly next to the spinal column.  So there is a relationship between pain in the back and a energetic lack of water in the body.

The energetic lack of water in the body, which can lead to the excess heat, can cause rigidity in the fascia.  Fascia is kind of like a "fabric" that sits between the layers of skin and the muscle.  When the fascia becomes rigid, and the body can't move as easily, then essentially the back also becomes rigid and the system begins to break down.

This process does not happen overnight.  However, you can benefit from movement such as Qigong and Flow movements taken from Tai Chi.

The more your practice, the more the fascia loosens and the water fills the fibers.  The spine begins to move, the body fluids flush the toxins and healing can begin.  It is a lifestyle practice, but it can also be a game changer in your life.

As we begin the Fire Element - Early Summer season, it's a great time to re-dedicate yourself to your practice.  Even if you can't attend the live sessions, you can utilize the videos' in the vault.

I am always an e-mail, text, FB message, or phone call away.  I hope you will take this opportunity to begin your practice, or do it more often.  It is a game changer.

Would you like to connect?  Schedule a free 20 minute strategy call to see if this program is right for you.  It's about much more than BACK's, your whole body, mind and spirit will thank you :-)
